Thunderbirds move to 3-0, defeat NMMI
Hobbs, NEW MEXICO (November 1, 2015) -
The New Mexico Junior College Men's Basketball team stayed perfect this season, moving to 3-0, upending the Broncos 76-63 in the final game of the Tate Branch Dodge Classic.
The Thunderbirds used a stifling defense in the first half holding the Broncos to 20% from the field (7-34) to take a 41-26 advantage into the break. The defense wasn't the only thing clicking for the Thunderbirds as they shot a blistering 51.9% from the field during that same stretch.
Offensively, the Thunderbirds were led by Tyler Blount as he poured in a game high 17 points going 4-7 from behind the arc. Freshmen Emmanuel Ansah and Nnamdi Okoro both scored in double figures chipping in 12 and 10 points respectively.
The Thunderbirds remain at home this week as they will host the Hydrotech Classic on Thursday, Friday and Saturday. They will take on Adams State JV on Thursday at 7:00 P.M.
