Coombs Continues Impressive Season; T-Birds Win Seven Events at Home Meet
Latavia Coombs continues her impressive sophomore season. In front of the home crowd, Coombs won both the Triple Jump (44’6”) and the Long Jump (20’6 ½”).
Latavia Coombs continues her impressive sophomore season. In front of the home crowd, Coombs won both the Triple Jump (44'6") and the Long Jump (20'6 ½"). Both jumps were school and facility records. Both jumps are also #1 in the NJCAA and her triple jump is the #5 best jump among all collegiate athletes this outdoor season.
A new national qualifying mark came from Bristol O'connor in the Hammer Throw. She threw the hammer 141'11". Other Improved national qualifying marks came from Shian Hyde (100M), D'Jai Baker (200M), Esther Gitahi (1500M), Teresha Jacobs (1500M), Hanifah Abdulqadir (Long Jump) Cathilee Mullings (Triple Jump), and both the 4 x 100 and 4 x 400 Meter Relays.
The seven event wins came from Esther Gitahi (1500M), 4 x 100M Relay, Hanifah Abdulqadir (High Jump), Latavia Coombs (Long Jump and Triple Jump), Rochelle Frazer (Discus), and Taneika Elliston (Javelin).
The T-Birds will now travel to UTEP on April 22nd for the UTEP Invitational.
