Thunderbird (WBB) Trounces Bishop State by 49
The NMJC women's basketball team finished their road stretch in Odessa, Texas with a 49-point win over Bishop State.
The 101-52 neutral site wire-to-wire win will be their last road game of the calendar year until they play conference against South Plains on Monday, Jan. 6.
The T-Birds began the game with a 10-0 run. They outscored Bishop State in the first three quarters by a difference of 80-30. The Wildcats edged the Thunderbirds in the fourth quarter 22-21.
NMJC scored 22 more points off turnovers and in the paint compared to Bishop State. Cacia Antonio finished with 18 points, seven assists, four steals, and three blocks. Pania Davis ended the day with 14 points, four rebounds, four steals, and three assists.
Sophomore Nuria Estrade went 4-for-6 from the 3-point line to finish with 12 points. Forward Amyah Sutton recorded 10 points and forward Emma Najjuma tallied seven rebounds.
The T-Birds shot 39-for-67 (58.2%) from the field, 9-for-17 (52.9%) from the 3-point line, and 14-of-18 (77.8%) from the charity stripe. The Thunderbirds forced 23 turnovers and held the Wildcats to 39.6% from the field and 21.1% from three-point land.
The No. 7 Thunderbirds move to 4-0 on the season and will play Dallas College Cedar Valley on Friday, Nov. 15 at 6 p.m. MST in Hobbs, NM.
