The Thunderbird men's basketball team defeated Phoenix College easily 96-63 on Friday, Nov. 7.
NMJC led at the half 46-36 and cruised in the second half to win 33. The T-Birds outscored Phoenix 50-27 in the second half.
Sophomore guard Kemauri Millender recorded 17 points. Yanel Datilus also scored 17 points and added six rebounds.
Forward Delang Muon posted 11 points and finished with six rebounds and three blocks. Center Ladji Coulibaly registered eight points and nine rebounds.
Grigorije Avramovic finished with nine points and four rebounds. Pete Newman notched 12 points, while Kenny Fields added five assists.
The T-Birds shot 37-for-72 (51.4%) from the field, 6-of-27 (22.2%) from the 3-point line, and 16-of-25 (64%) from the free throw line. NMJC forced 29 turnovers and held the Bears to 41.8% from the field.
The T-Birds improve to 3-0 and will face Pratt CC Sunday, Nov. 9 at 1 p.m. MST in Hobbs, NM.
