Odessa, TEXAS (November 12, 2015)
In their opening game of the Odessa College Classic, the New Mexico Junior College Men's Basketball team fell to Central Arizona 75-69.
Freshman Xabier Gomez (Chabby) led three Thunderbirds in double figures as he scored 18 points. The backcourt of Jalin Hart and Tyler Blount also turned in solid performances as Hart scored 14 points while grabbing a team leading nine rebounds from his point guard position abd Blount chipped in 15 points.
The Thunderbirds, who had been shooting lights out from three point range, were 6-29 for the game. They did however outscore the Vaqueros 36-22 in the paint but couldn't find the bottom of the net from three when they needed it most.
Next up for the Thunderbirds is University of the Southwest JV on Friday in Odessa.
