Thunderbirds down Southwest JV
Hobbs, NEW MEXICO (November 7, 2015) -
The final game of the Hydrotech Classic saw the New Mexico Junior College Men's Basketball team get back in the win column with a 104-66 victory over University of the Southwest JV at Caster Activity Center.
Jalin Hart continued his strong start to his sophomore campaign coming up four rebounds short of a triple double as he had 19 points, 10 assists and six rebounds to lead the Thunderbirds. The most impressive stat for Hart in the game was that he only turned the ball over one time.
Equally impressive for the Thunderbirds, was Tyler Blount as he knocked down seven of ten from downtown finishing the game with 23 points to lead all scorers. Xabier Gomez and Devin Wyatt also scored in double figures for the Thunderbirds chipping in 14 and 10 points respectively. Gomez was three for four from behind the arc.
For the game, the Thunderbirds shot 59% from the field (36-61) and 53% from three (14-26). Both of those marks were higher than their free-throw percentage, 52.9%, an area the Tbirds will work to improve.
The Thunderbirds take to the road on Thursday, November 12 in Odessa, TX to take on Central Arizona from Region 1.
