T-Birds (WBB) Defeats WTC for 5th Straight W
Jada Graves extended her double figures streak to seven as the T-Birds knocked off Western Texas 59-42 for the second time this season on Monday, Feb. 9.
Graves finished the night with 10 points, four assists, four rebounds, and three steals.
NMJC led the slow paced Westerners 16-11 after one quarter of play. WTC pulled within one possession, 18-16, at the 8:22 mark. It would be the closest they reached the rest of the matchup. NMJC went on a 10-2 run to close the half up 28-18.
The T-Birds extended their lead in the second half by seven points to finish the game with a 17-point victory over the Westerners.
Indigo Bell came off the bench and knocked down four 3-pointers to finish the night with 12 points.
Kaycee Steinke was the third T-Bird in double figures scoring 11 points. Caitlin Wilson registered a game-high 10 rebounds and Addison Edwards chipped in seven boards.
The T-Birds shot 20-for-55 (36.4%) from the field, 7-of-28 (25%) from the 3-point line, and 12-of-16 (75%) from the charity stripe. NMJC forced 21 turnovers and held the Westerners to 25% from the field.
NMJC is third in the WJCAC standings, trailing Howard College by one game and first place Clarendon by 2.5 games.
The No. 8 Thunderbirds move to 19-3 (6-2) on the year and will face Howard College in Hobbs, NM Thursday, Feb. 12 at 5:45 p.m. MST.
