NMJC (WBB) Starts Season Ranked No. 9
The Thunderbird women's basketball team was voted No. 9 in the NJCAA Preseason Poll on Monday, Oct. 20.
NMJC began last season ranked No. 7 in the country in the 2024 NJCAA Preseason Poll. The Thunderbirds are coming off a year that saw them finish Region V Runner-up and reach the NJCAA Quarterfinals for the second straight year.
The T-Birds won the WJCAC for the 10th time and finished the 2024-25 season with a 30-4 (12-2).
The 2025-26 season is a new look for NMJC as they lost 10 players from last year's squad. The six returners are Jada Graves, Liz Buendia, Bright Eze, Kaycee Steinke, Andrea Lozoya, and Zarai Lewis. 11 new members of the team were added with 10 being freshmen and one a transfer sophomore.
The T-Birds will open up the season at home against Monroe University Sunday, Nov. 2 at 5 p.m. MST.
