3 T-Birds Invited to the College Basketball Academy

NMJC women's basketball will have three members of the team participate in the 2024 NCAA College Basketball Academy. 

Wisdom Anthony, Pania Davis, and Danielle Smith will attend the three day event in Rock Hill, SC from July 27-29.

According to the cbbacademy.com the summer academy will feature "basketball training, skill development, and games. Participants and their parents or chaperones will attend life skills courses about NCAA eligibility and compliance; the recruiting process; name, image and likeness opportunities; agents; and the transfer portal." 

Head coach Austin Mefford will be in attendance for the Thunderbirds when his players compete in front of a variety of DI coaches. 

"This is a great opportunity for our three student-athletes that were selected to participate in the inaugural year of junior college involvement in the College Basketball Academy," Mefford said. "We thank the NCAA for incorporating junior college and allowing some of the best players in the country to compete in front of a lot of NCAA coaches." 

The T-Birds will begin the 2024-25 season on Friday, Nov. 1 against Trinidad State inside the Caster Activity Center at 6 p.m. MDT.
