Sweet revenge; Thunderbirds defeat Eastern Arizona

Thatcher, ARIZONA (November 28, 2015)

In the second game of the Eastern Arizona Thanksgiving Classic, the New Mexico Junior College Women's Basketball played tournament host Eastern Arizona and defeated the Monsters, 68-53, avenging a 77-70 Halloween night loss to start the season.

Alana da Silva and Dezirae Hampton led the Thunderbids as they each scored 13 points. da Silva added five rebounds and five assists and fellow sophomore, Nycolle Smith added 12 points and nine rebounds just missing out on her third double-double of the season and second against the Monsters.

For the second consecutive night, the Thunderbirds out rebounded their opponent and held them under 30% shooting as the Monsters shot just 29% and were out rebounded by three, 44-41. The Thunderbird bench was equally as impressive as they outscored the Monsters bench 31-18.

The Thunderbirds (12-2; 0-0) will finish their month long, 12 game road trip on Wednesday as they open WJCAC play in Odessa against the Wranglers at 4:30 P.M. MST. With a win, the Thunderbirds will end the trip 11-1 and return home for a December 5th tilt with the Westerners from Western Texas.
