No. 13 Lady T-Birds score season high
NMJC defeats SWTJC, 121-32
HOBBS, N.M. — The 13th-ranked New Mexico Junior College women's basketball team scored a season high while defeating Southwest Texas Junior College 121-32 on Saturday at Caster Activity Center on the final day of the T-Bird Shootout.
The Lady Thunderbirds' previous high was when they beat SWTJC 109-42 on Nov. 2, also in Hobbs.
Malaik Muhammad paced seven NMJC players in double figures with 23 points as the freshman went 4-for-6 from beyond the arc.
Angelica de Paulo had 18 points and eight rebounds for the Lady T-Birds, Viktoriia Kotilevskaia had 15 points, six assists, five rebounds and four steals, Alana da Silva had 13 points, nine assists, five steals and four rebounds, Nycolle Smith had 12 points and 10 rebounds, Kelsey Criner had 10 points, four assists and four steals while going a perfect 5-for-5 from the field while Joneva Huey had 10 points as well.
NMJC (14-1, 1-0) returns to Western Junior College Athletic Conference action Thursday when the Lady T-Birds host Western Texas College 5:45 p.m. Thursday at Caster Activity Center.
