T-Bird (M-T&F) Adds 3 New Qualifiers in Waco
The T-Bird men's track & field team competed at the Michael Johnson Invitational April 18-19 in Waco, Texas.
The Thunderbirds finished the meet with two improved qualifiers and three new national qualifiers.
Johnathon Rodgers was the top performer on the men's side this week. The sophomore jumper leapt 15.80m in the triple to qualify nationally for outdoors and move into the No. 5 spot in the NJCAA.
TK Pahuwa ran in his first individual race since coming off injury. He nationally qualified for outdoors in the 400m running a 47.06. Pahuwa is ranked No. 17 in the NJCAA based on his indoor time.
Freshman Mohammed Mrahi improved on his previous national standard in the steeplechase by 6.67 seconds to finish in 9:27.28 (NJCAA No. 12). Ronald Jecky also competed in the steeplechase as he nationally qualified with a time of 9:41.32. Jecky slots in at No. 21 in the NJCAA for the event.
Alexandre Fablet was the final improved qualifier this week, running 5.53 seconds quicker in the 1500m with a time of 3:52.51 (NJCAA No. 30).
The Thunderbirds have the week off before they race again at the Texas Tech Corky Shootout in Lubbock, Texas May 2-3.
