The No. 23 Thunderbirds manhandled Ranger College 86-58 on Saturday, Dec. 13.
NMJC started the game on a 23-4 run to take a commanding 19-point lead. Ranger trailed by 17 points at halftime 44-27. NMJC forced 14 turnovers in the first half and shot 14 more field goal attempts in the process.
Ranger's Cam Brown scored 16 points in the second half, but NMJC still outpaced the Rangers 42-31 in the final frame.
Sophomore forward Delang Muon scored a career-high 22 points and grabbed six rebounds. Kemauri Millender was the other T-Bird in double figures with 13 points. Kenny Fields added nine points in the 28-point win.
Grigorije Avramovic tied his career high in assists with five while RJ Nance recorded four assists of his own.
The T-Birds shot 33-for-75 (44%) from the field, 10-of-36 (27.8%) from the 3-point line, and 10-of-16 (62.5%) from the free throw line. NMJC forced 30 turnovers and held the Rangers to 44% from the field.
The No. 23 T-Birds move to 11-1 and will face North Platte CC Tuesday, Dec. 16 at 6 p.m. MST in Hobbs, NM.
