Thomas’s 26 points Overwhelms Lopes
Jannoy Thomas posted a career-high 26 points in the Thunderbirds 116-79 win over Lamar CC.
The T-Birds got off to a great start from the jump on Thursday, Nov. 14. NMJC guard Rodrigo Farias doubled the Lopes score with a 3-pointer to give the Thunderbirds a 32-16 lead with 10:35 to go in the first half.
The T-Birds finished the first half with a 56-34 lead over Lamar. NMJC was comfortably in control in the second half outscoring the Lopes 60-45 to win by 37 points, 116-79.
Sophomore guard Jannoy Thomas went a perfect 4-for-4 from beyond the arc on his way to recording 26 points.
Guard Rodrigo Farias finished with eight points, six assists, and five rebounds. Redshirt freshman guard Michael Mackey received his first start finishing with 12 points.
Armon Jarrard finished in double figures with 10 points. Brother Amhad Jarrard recorded a career-high in points with 23 and rebounds with 12. Redshirt freshman Victor Ezeh added nine points and seven rebounds.
Sophomore Jayden Spearman finished the game with 11 points and forward Marquan Harris tallied five rebounds.
The T-Birds shot 42-of-75 (56.0%) from the field, 18-for-39 (46.2%) from the 3-point line, and 14-of-19 (73.7%) from the free throw line. The Thunderbirds forced 13 turnovers, held the Antelopes to 42.4% from the field, and 30.6% from beyond the arc.
NMJC moves to 6-0 overall on the season and will face NOK Tonkawa in Hobbs, NM Saturday, Nov. 16 at 2 p.m. MDT.
