T-Birds Drop Road Contest to Utah State Eastern

Sophomore guard Logan McLaughlin finished the afternoon with 12 points and five rebounds as the Thunderbirds fell 57-49 to Utah State Eastern in day two of the Wrangler Shootout.

The T-Birds were in the lead at half 27-21, before being outscored by 14 in the second half 36-22.

The Golden Eagles trailed by nine points with 11:49 to go in the game before rattling off a 21-5 run to take the lead 54-47 with 2:25 left.

Sophomore guards Micah Jones and Cameron Kimble finished with eight points apiece in the loss to the Golden Eagles.  

The Thunderbirds shot 20-of-55 (36.4%) from the field and were 6-for-26 (23.1%) from the three-point line in the loss. The T-Birds forced 15 turnovers, but were ineffective from the free throw line going 3-for-10 (30%).

NMJC falls to 3-4 on the season. NMJC will play Cochise in the Wrangler Shootout Sunday, Nov. 20 at 2 p.m. CDT in Odessa, Texas.
