T-Birds Beat Clarendon by 9

The T-Birds played a great game on Monday night In Caster Activity Center against the Clarendon Bulldogs. The T-Birds beat the Bulldogs by 9.
The two teams battled in the first half as there were 7 total lead changes. Freshman Mouhamed Mbaye put up 9 points in the first half, 8 of those points coming from the paint. Sophomore Devin Butts made two 3-pointers and one field goal, scoring 8 additional points for the T-Birds. Freshman Dario Domingos also put up 8 points for the T-Birds, followed by sophomore Jordan Booker who had 6 points.
Clarendon out-scored NMJC by only one point in the first half, going into halftime leading the T-Birds 34-33.
The game was tied 6 times throughout the second half. The T-Birds trailed by 6 with six minutes left in the game but quickly shortened that lead with a couple free throws from sophomore Tommy Chatman and layups from Dario Domingos. Jordan Booker sank 3 free throws to get a lead on the Bulldogs making the score 61-57 with just 2:30 left in the game. The Bulldogs could not catch up to the T-Birds and ended the game behind 60-69. The T-Birds are now 5-4 in conference play.
Top scorers for the T-Birds were Mouhamed Mbaye and Dario Domingos with 17 points each. Devin Butts put up 13 points followed by Jordan Booker with 10 points. The T-Birds' next game will be on Thursday, January 27th, at 7:30PM MST against Odessa College at home in Caster Activity Center.
