T-Birds Fall to Frank Phillips College At Home
The T-Birds played another close conference game on Thursday night against Frank Phillips College. The T-Birds fell short to the Plainsmen by just 5 points.
Sophomore Tommy Chatman started the game for the T-Birds with a jump shot just two minutes into the first half making the score 2-2. Freshman Dario Domingos made a free throw shortly after putting the T-Birds ahead of the Plainsmen 3-2. That was the only lead the T-Birds had on the Plainsmen on Thursday night. After several layups and free throws by the Plainsmen, the T-Birds continued to trail, ending the first half behind the Plainsmen 47-33.
The T-Birds outscored the Plainsmen in the second half 42-33. Unfortunately that was not enough for the T-Birds as the Plainsmen maintained their lead in the second half. A dunk from Sophomore Devin Butts put the T-Birds behind by only 1 point with just four minutes left in the second half making the score 72-71. Two free throws by the Plainsmen followed by a layup from freshman Mouhamed Mbaye put the score at 74-73 with 2 minutes remaining. After a foul by the T-Birds the Plainsmen sunk in two free throws, ending the game ahead of the T-Birds by 5 with a final score of 80-75. The T-Birds are now 4-3 in conference play.
T-Birds scoring double digits against the Plainsmen were Devin Butts with 20 points followed by Jordan Booker with 16 points, Mouhamed Mbay with 15 points, and Dario Dominos with 12 points. Tommy Chatman put up 6 points while freshmen Elijah Beard, Josaphat Bilau and Kenyuoe Ondaan all scored 2 points each. Next up for the T-Birds are the Clarendon College Bulldogs. They will play at home in Caster Activity Center on Monday, January 24th, at 7:30PM MST.
