NMJC Falls to South Plains On The Road

The NMJC T-Birds played another conference game on Monday night against the South Plains Texans at the Texan Dome in Levelland, TX. The T-Birds
After losing to the Texans by only 7 points in Arizona a month ago, the T-Birds showed up to the Texan Dome looking for revenge. The team came out strong in the first half gaining a lead within the first 2 minutes of the game. The Texans could not switch that lead throughout the first half as they were outscored 33-28 by the T-Birds.
Nine of those points came from freshman Dario Domingos who continued to score from the paint. Following Domingos in the lead was sophomore Tommy Chatman with 7 points, one of those being a 3-pointer.
The Texans came back in the second quarter to shorten the T-Bird lead, changing it in their favor 12 minutes into the second half. It was a tight final 8 minutes as the T-Birds continued to trail closely behind the Texans. Freshman Mouhamed Mbaye reached 5 fouls with 1 minute left in the game. The T-Birds fell to the Texans 71-80. The T-Birds are now 2-2 in conference play.
Top scorers for the T-Birds were sophomore Jordan Booker with 19 points, Tommy Chatman with 16 points, and Dario Domingos with 15 points.
The T-Birds will go on to play New Mexico Military Institute on Thursday, January 13th, at 6:30PM MST in Caster Activity Center.
