NMJC (BSB) Earns 1st Win
NMJC baseball earned their first victory of the season with a 4-1 win over Central Arizona College on Friday, Jan. 30.
The T-Birds played all four games in Henderson, Nevada with wood bats.
Jeter Battles put NMJC on the board, stealing a bag and scoring on an RBI double by Casen Savage in the top of the first inning. Mekhi Brewer scored Savage on a groundout to short to make the score 2-0 NMJC after one inning.
Central Arizona scored in the fifth inning to pull themselves within a run, 2-1. The T-Birds scored two runs in the ninth via an error to extend their lead to 4-1. The Vaqueros did not rebound in the bottom of the inning and fell by three runs.
Center fielder Casen Savage went 2-for-4 with a double, an RBI, and two runs scored. Shortstop Talan Barraza was 1-for-3 on the day with a walk.
Roman Trinidad was hitless, but he did drive in two runs in the 3-run win.
Andrew DeLeon started for NMJC and went four innings. The left-hander struck out four to earn his first-career win. Paul Medina earned the save in one inning of work.
The T-Birds move to 1-2 on the year finishing Friday with four hits and four runs.
