Jebet captures individual title
Hobbs, NEW MEXICO -
On Saturday, September 26th, the NMJC Thunderbirds continued their 2015 season as they hosted the NMJC Invitational at Harry McAdams Park.
The TBirds finished in 2nd Place as a team, two points behind #5 ranked, and defending national champion, El Paso CC. "We ran really well today. We were very close to taking the team title El Paso has a great team and we are gaining on them." commented Coach Becker.
Individual, Rose Jebet, continued her winning ways by finishing first in a time of 18:49. Her winning time is also the 7th fastest time in school history.
Jebet was joined in the top 5 by her teammates Silvia Sosa in 3rd (19:42.69) and Naomi Tanui in 5th place (20:27.43). "I was very proud of all the ladies, we have battled injures, but these ladies came out and competed today."
Rounding out the rest of the team was Cassidy Reddell in 11th (21:25.18) and Cristal Corrales in 25th (24:25.91).
Up next the T-Birds will host the NMJC Open on Friday, October 9, 2015 in Hobbs at Harry McAdams Park.
