Thunderbirds sweep Top spots at Home Invitational
The NJCAA #9 Ranked Thunderbirds showed their abilities for the first time at home this season at the NMJC Invitational. NMJC hosted region rivals Odessa Community College, Western Texas College and New Mexico Military Institute.
The NJCAA #9 Ranked Thunderbirds showed their abilities for the first time at home this season at the NMJC Invitational. NMJC hosted region rivals Odessa Community College, Western Texas College and New Mexico Military Institute.
The Thunderbirds swept the top 5 scoring spots at the meet to score a perfect 15 point score. "To score a perfect score is hard to do at any level and I am very proud of these ladies" commented Coach Becker.
Individually, Purity Murray won the race in an outstanding time of 19:11. Coming in second and third were Silvia Sosa (20:24) and Naomi Tanui (20:31). Finishing out the top five scoring were Isidra Guerrero (21:20) and Cristal Corrales (21:27). "All of the ladies ran well, but Naomi made a big jump and moved from our number five runner to our number three runner. She did really well" said Coach Becker
The next action for the Thunderbirds will be Saturday, October 11th as the host the NMJC Open.
