T-Bird (W-T&F) Eyes Big Day 2, DMR Finishes National Runner-up in Day 1
The NMJC women's track & field team finished Day 1 of the 2026 NJCAA Indoor T&F Championships with one relay All-American and two individual All-Americans.
The Thunderbirds are currently in eighth place with 12 points behind third place Barton County CC with 26 points, second place Hutchinson CC with 29 points, and first place Iowa Western at 30 points.
The women's distance medley relay squad of Amal Kachouri, Tuwana McLean, Elsa Gueret, and Yididiya Bifa ran an 11:53.77 to finish national runner-up. The All-American finish notched the T-Birds eight points to start the meet.
Tatiana Bedoya vaulted 3.40m on Friday to place seventh in the pole vault. The All-American finish earned the team two points.
Ines Mrabet finished in seventh place in the 5000m with a 17:38.98. The sophomore earns her first All-American distinction in the 5000m and adds another two points to the team total.
Gabriela Anahi Suarez qualified for the final of the 60m with a time of 7.28. She is ranked No. 2 in the event for the final. In the 200m, she ran a 23.65 to reach the finals which ranks No. 2.
Motlatsi Rante was second in the prelims in the 400m with a time of 55.12 to qualify for the final.
Amal Kachouri was the top time in the 800m with a 2:12.74 in the prelim race. Kachouri also competes in the straight final of the mile Saturday.
Yididiya Bifa made the final of the 1000m after running a school-record 2:49.97 to rank No. 2 for prelims. The finish is No. 2 all-time in the NJCAA for the 1000m. Bifa will also compete in the mile on Saturday. Bifa's final race of the championship will be the 3000m.
Lisel Ndlovu and Ines Mrabet will compete in the 3000m to finish their indoor career with the T-Birds.

Athilia Pryce and Gabriella Tcheukam compete in the weight throw on Saturday.
Janita Antipina will white card in the triple jump while Jastin Guzman and Sofia Mosquera Rodriquez complete the trio on the field side.
The No. 1 ranked mile relay squad of Charissa December, Gabriela Anahi Suarez, Motlatsi Rante, Tuwana McLean and subs Nalicia Glen + Fatima Chefaig will be the final race of the meet on Saturday.
Day 2 starts with the high jump at 10:30 a.m. CST and ends with the 4x400m relay around 4:30 p.m. CST.
