NMJC track find success

The New Mexico Junior College men and women indoor track and field where successful at the New Mexico team open Saturday in Albuquerque. Last year's runner up the Lady T-Birds won three events, reached four national qualifying marks, improved four marks, and set a school record.
The Lady T-Birds won the 60-meter, 60-meter hurdles, and the distance medley. Ayla Stanisclaus came in first in the 60-meter at 7.37, which improved her qualifying mark. Yanique Dayle came in third place at 7.62, which improved her qualifying mark. Stanisclaus came in third in the 200-meter at 24.11, and Dayle came in 10th at 24.99 reaching the national qualifier mark. Moisha Barnes came in seventh place in the 400-meter at 57.32 improving her national qualifying mark. Machiyla Knight came ninth place in the 600-meter at 1:39.16 a national qualifying mark. Gladys Koech came in sixth place at 8.19 a school record. Susan Francis came in eighth place in the triple jump with a score of 38 feet and two inches, which is a national qualifying mark.
The T-Birds won the weight throw and distance medley, achieved six qualifying marks, and improved on one national qualifying mark. Andrei Romanov won the weight throw by tying his own NJCAA record of 68 feet and seven inches. Jalen Purcell came in sixth place in the 60-meter at 6.77 and Tyrell Edwards came in seventh at 6.81, which is a national qualifying mark. Dre'Shaun Sanders finished in third place in the 200-meters at 21.27 a national qualifier. Edwards
(21.63) and Ramone Lindo (21.75) both reached the national qualifying mark in the 200-meter. The Distance medley relay came in first at 10:38.32, which is a national qualifying mark for the T-Birds. Jadon Elliott (15 feet, three inches) improved his national qualifying mark in the pole vault and teammate Oscar Campos reached the qualifying mark with a 14 feet and three and one-fourth inches throw.
NMJC will compete in Albuquerque on Saturday in the New Mexico Collegiate Classic.
