The New Mexico Junior college women's indorr track and field team hosted a two-day meet Friday and Saturday and had nine Ldy Thunderbirds win events.
Trishawna Crawford won the 60-meter dash with a time of 7.44 seconds while Krystal Splaling took first in the 200-meter dash, finishing in 23.61 seconds. In the 400-meter dash, Christine Moss won with a time of 54.96.
"It was good," Moss said of getting to run at home. "I didn't expect to win the 400. It was a tight race with my former high school teammate. I knew she could run the 400 and I didn't want her to beat me, so I did my best."
In the longer runs, Teresha Jacobs won the mile run, turning in a time of 5:20.71 while Cynthia Kipserem won the 5,000-meters with a time of 20:27.61.
"Before I started, I was kind of worried because I was running with the guys," Jacobs said. "But once the race started, I kind of felt more motivation.
"It is great (to win)," Jacobs continued. "I am proud of myself. Every time I run, I want to improve more, and more."
In the field events, Rochelle Franzier won both, the shot put and the weight throw. Frazier had a throw of 13.29 meters in the shot put and 15.86 meters in the weight throw. Tamara Moncrieffe won the triple jump, clearing 12.60 meters.
