NMJC (W-Golf) Finishes Fall Season at Midwestern State
The Thunderbirds closed the fall season with a fifth-place finish at the Midwestern State Invitational on Tuesday, Oct. 21.
Dallas Baptist University shot 8-over par to win the tournament. Odessa College was top JUCO in the field finishing in second place in 14-over. Ella Cheek of DBU won the tournament individually at 8-under par. NMJC as a team shot 51-over to come in fifth place as the No. 2 junior college team in the field in Wichita Falls, Texas.
Freshman Dear Phermthongmak was the top performer for the T-Birds this week at 11-over. Phermthongmak shot 78-76-73 to finish in a tie for 19th place.
Freshman Tova Sandren cooled off a little this week after her last three tournaments saw her break nearly every individual school record. The Halmstad, Sweden native shot 73-76-80 in 54 holes. She ended her tournament tied for 25th at 13-over par.
Ella Cornwell continued her impressive play as of late in Wichita Falls shooting 76-74 in her first 36 holes. The freshman struggled in the final round posting an 84 but she still placed T-42 at 18-over.
Sophie Brothwood shot 75-82-78 at Wichita Falls CC to record 19-over and place in a tie for 45th place. Sophomore Giuliana Frutos was the final member of the team score shooting 82-76-80 to come in 55th place at 22-over.
The singular individual for the T-Birds was Chase Fields. The sophomore opened with an 80-79 in her first 36 holes and then shot 86 in the final round to finish T-68 at 29-over.
The Thunderbirds finish the fall season and will head back on the course in January of 2026.
