T-Bird Rodeo Starts the 2024-25 Season in Portales

The NMJC men's and women's rodeo teams begin the 2024-25 season this week in Portales, NM Sept. 19-21 at the Eastern New Mexico University Rodeo.

The T-Birds program experienced exponential growth this offseason with the Thunderbirds sporting a team that consists of 20 women and 15 men to their first rodeo of the fall.

The influx of talent will up the expectations as NMJC enters the 2024-25 season.

"We are very excited to kick this year off as we have almost doubled in size on the women's team," NMJC women's rodeo head coach Alexa Wilcox said. "We have some very strong competitors in both our freshman and sophomores, and have already seen a lot of progress made in the practice pen. I'm looking forward to seeing it all come together for them at the college rodeos this fall."
