Three NMJC Men make it to Short Round
Sul Ross State was host to the 2nd NIRA/SWR Rodeo this past week end in Alpine, TX. Preston Burr, James Reed in saddle bronc riding and Ed Beardsworth in in steer wrestling represented the NMJC Men's Team in short go action.
Preston Burr from Stratford, TX in saddle bronc riding split 4th thru 8th in the long go with a 72 score, but was only one of three to ride their broncs in the short go, scoring 74 points for his ride. Preston finished 2nd in the average on two horse scoring 146 points.
James D. Reed from Spearman, TX in saddle bronc riding was third in the long go scoring 73 points for his ride, but had a no score for his short round bronc. James's still finished 5th in the average.
Ed Beardsworth from Innisfail, AB in steer wrestling was 10th in the long go with the time of 6.9 sec. on his steer. In the short round Ed wrestled his steer to the ground with the time of 5.7 sec. and finished 5th in the average with the time of 12.6 sec. on two steers.
Next NIRA/SWR Rodeo is at Vernon College, in Vernon, TX this weekend Sept.29 thru Oct. 1, 2016.
