Burr wins Saddle Bronc title at WTC
Snyder, TEXAS
NMJC sent five members to the short round of the Western Texas College rodeo in Snyder, Texas this past weekend. Saddle bronc rider Preston Burr won the WTC Championship by placing 3rd in the long go with the score of 75 points, he placed 1st in the short go scoring 72 points which allowed him to win the average and title scoring a total of 147 on two broncs.
For the NMJC Women, Leann Herring in breakaway roping split 9th/10th in the long go with the time of 2.6 sec., placed 5th in the short go with the time of 12.2 sec., and finished 5th in the average with the time of 14.8 sec. on two calves.
In team roping NMJC's Men Keely Bonnett (Heeler) and Casey Tew (Header) of Weatherford College placed 1st in the long go with the time of 6.6 sec., but had a No Time in the short go taking them out of the average. NMJC's Wyatt Hayes (Header) and Tyce McLeod (Heeler) split 2nd/3rd in the long go with the time of 6.8 sec., but had a NO Time in the short go taking them out of the average as well.
Next NIRA/SWR Rodeo will be at Howard College, Big Springs, TX, April 7-9, 2016 which is during NMJC's Spring Break.
