Lady T-Birds take fifth, T-Birds split 8th/9th at Howard Rodeo
NMJC's Clark finishes third in breakaway roping
BIG SPRING, Texas — The New Mexico Junior College women's rodeo team took fifth and the men split eighth and ninth at the Howard College Rodeo on Saturday.
Kacey Clark of Santa Fe led the NMJC women by taking third in breakaway roping with an average of 6.6 seconds on two head. The sophomore split third through ninth in the long go (3.0 seconds) and took third in the short go (3.6).
NMJC's Kellie Collier split ninth and 10th in the long go of breakaway roping (3.3 seconds), but didn't record a time in the short go.
Leading the way for the NMJC men was Kolton Burnett as the freshman from Vernon, Texas, placed fifth in saddle bronc. Burnett took ninth in the long go with a 57 and finished third in the short go with a 70.
NMJC competes at the Ranger College Rodeo starting Thursday in Brownwood, Texas.
