NMJC (M-T&F) Holds 2nd Headed into Day 2 of Nationals, Cadeot Wins Long Jump Title
The NMJC men's track & field team finished Day 1 of the 2026 NJCAA Indoor T&F Championships with one individual national champion, one relay All-American squad, and two individual All-Americans.
The Thunderbirds are currently in second place with 22 points behind Butler CC who has 30.
Bastien Cadeot won the long jump national championship with a leap of 7.69m. The freshman came into the meet ranked No. 1 and solidified that place Friday afternoon. The All-American finish notches 10 points to the team's total.
Samuel Ospina finished national runner-up in the pole vault with a clearance of 5.18m. The sophomore All-American scored eight points for NMJC.
The men's distance medley relay of Elmehdi Bouchouata, Johnathon Bai, Rayen Chiha, and Alexandre Fablet finished fifth with a time of 9:52.97. The school-record time earned four points toward the team score.
Luiz Santos is No. 2 in the heptathlon headed into Day 2. The freshman has scored 3030 points so far and trails first place by 52 points.
A trio of T-Birds made the 60m finals. Samalie Farrington made the 60m final with a 6.66 in the prelims. He is listed in the No. 3 slot for the finals.
Following closely behind is defending national champion David Nyamufarira, who will race in the final tomorrow after running a 6.67. The third T-Bird to make the 60m final is Carlos Brown. The freshman ran a 6.68 on Friday to slot No. 6.
Benjamin Nsiah sits alone atop the 400m standings after running a 46.22 in the prelims. Raheim Scott ran a season-best 46.90 in the 400m to reach the final as the No. 3 runner.
Romain Toth snuck his way into the 800m final in ninth place after running a 1:51.94 in prelims on Friday.
Elmehdi Bouchouata set a school record in the 1000m qualifying for the final with a 2:25.38.
Mohammed Mrahi, Killian LeBourhis, and Alexandre Fablet will all compete in the 3000m.
The triple jump sees Bastien Cadeot and Javar Thomas. Samuel Puustinen, Marc Delin, and Raits Markus are set to compete in the weight throw on Day 2.
No. 6 ranked Elmehdi Bouchouata, Rayen Chiha, Erwan Darrieulat, Romain Toth, and sub Adolf Kauba are slotted to race in the 4x800m.
The No. 6 ranked mile relay squad of Johnny Bai, Raheim Scott, Benjamin Nsiah, Aaron Jerry, and subs Adolf Kauba + David Nyamufarira will be the final race of the weekend.
Day 2 starts with the heptathlon at 9:30 a.m. CST and ends with the 4x400m relay around 4:30 p.m. CST.
