T-Birds Win Three Against EPCC in Home Series
Game 1
- Stanley Tucker gave El Paso Community College fits, as Tucker bagged four hits in New Mexico Junior College's 25-11 victory on Saturday. Tucker homered in the first, homered in the second, and tripled in the fourth.
- Both pitching staffs had their hands full, frequently dealing with runners on base. New Mexico Junior College collected 21 hits and El Paso Community College had 12.
- The T-Birds took an early lead in the first inning when Christian Hoffman's sac fly scored one run.
- NMJC took the lead for good with ten runs in the second inning. In the second, Tucker homered on a 3-2 count, scoring three runs, Jesse Herrera III singled on a 1-1 count, scoring one run, Hoffman homered on a 1-0 count, scoring four runs, and Tucker homered on a 1-2 count, scoring two runs. The T-Birds put up another 12 runs in the fourth inning. The offensive firepower by NMJC was led by Aaron Lugo, Luis Gonzalez, Herrera III, Camden Melvin, Thomas Schreck, and Lorenzo Morresi, all knocking in runs in the inning.
- El Paso Community College scored four runs in the fourth inning. EPCC's big inning was driven by home runs by Jonathan Rios and Keneth Dutka, by Axel Guerrero, and a double by Mauricio Millan.
- Gerardo Grijalva took the win for the T-Birds. The pitcher surrendered ten runs on ten hits over three innings, striking out three and walking one. EJ Miramontes threw two innings in relief out of the bullpen.
- Jesus Campa toed the rubber for El Paso Community College. The bulldog surrendered six runs on three hits over one inning. #38 and Carlos Maldonado entered the game from the bullpen, throwing two innings and one inning respectively.
- NMJC tallied six home runs on the day. Tucker had a long ball in the first and second innings. Lugo had a dinger in the fourth inning. Hoffman had a homer in the second inning. Gonzalez went deep in the fourth inning.
- The T-Birds scattered 21 hits in the game. Tucker, Morresi, Gonzalez, Lugo, Kade Benavidez, Melvin, and Herrera III each racked up multiple hits for the team and led the T-Birds with four hits in four at bats. NMJC was sure-handed in the field and didn't commit a single error. Gonzalez had the most chances in the field with five.
- El Paso Community College racked up 12 hits. Millan, Deandre Llopiz, and Rios all had multiple hits for El Paso Community College. Llopiz had five chances in the field, the most on the team.
Game 2
- NMJC stole the lead late in the game in a 6-4 victory over El Paso Community College on Saturday. The game was tied at three with the T-Birds batting in the bottom of the sixth when Rafael Gross homered on the first pitch of the at bat, scoring three runs.
- El Paso Community College fired up the offense in the first inning. Mauricio Millan doubled on a 2-0 count, scoring one run.
- The T-Birds pulled away for good with six runs in the sixth inning. In the sixth Luis Gonzalez singled on a 2-1 count, scoring two runs and Andres Perez induced Christian Hoffman to hit into a fielder's choice, but one run scored.
- Fernando Gonzalez took the win for NMJC. The pitcher surrendered four runs on four hits over six and a third innings, striking out seven. Jesus Tovar threw two and two-thirds innings in relief out of the bullpen. Tovar recorded the last eight outs to earn the save for the T-Birds.
- Aaron Sanchez was on the mound for El Paso Community College. The hurler went five innings, allowing five runs on six hits and striking out eight. Perez threw three innings in relief out of the bullpen.
- NMJC tallied one home run on the day. Gross had a four bagger in the sixth inning and led the T-Birds with two hits in three at bats.
- Joseph Rogriguez went 2-for-4 at the plate to lead EPCC in hits. Millan made the most plays with 12.
Game 3
- NMJC fell behind early and couldn't come back in a 9-1 loss to El Paso Community College on Sunday. El Paso Community College scored on an error and a single by Keneth Dutka in the second inning.
- The T-Birds struggled to contain the high-powered offense of EPCC, giving up nine runs.
- The Tejanos got on the board in the second inning when an error scored one run for El Paso Community College.
- Iain Campa was credited with the victory for El Paso Community College. The ace surrendered one run on four hits over seven innings, striking out four.
- Josh Akers took the loss for NMJC. The lefthander lasted two innings, allowing five hits and four runs while striking out two and walking zero.
- Thomas Schreck went 2-for-3 at the plate to lead the T-Birds in hits.
- EPCC collected 11 hits. Benito Hernandez and Dutka each managed multiple hits for the Tejanos. Hernandez led El Paso Community College with four hits in four at bats. EPC was sure-handed in the field and didn't commit a single error. Deandre Llopiz had the most chances in the field with eight.
Game 4
- Stanley Tucker was an RBI machine on Sunday, driving in six on three hits to lead NMJC past El Paso Community College 18-10 in game 4. Tucker drove in runs on a home run in the first, a double in the second, and a home run in the fifth. The T-Birds collected 17 hits and EPCC had 11 in the high-scoring affair.
- In the first inning, the Tejanos got their offense started and scored four runs when Deandre Llopiz homered.
- In the bottom of the second inning, the T-Birds tied things up at four when Tucker doubled on the first pitch of the at bat, scoring two runs.

Benavidez had a long ball in the fifth inning.
