Four sign 2017-18 Letters of Intent with 4-Year Schools

Four T-Birds signed letters of intent to move on to the "next level" following the spring 2017 season with NMJC.  The sport of baseball offers a winter signing period the runs for 10 days in early November.  The following 4 T-Birds had the opportunity to sign for next season and they include; Gavin Johnson (Sam Houston State University); Alex Pinedo (New Mexico State University); Larry Leitha (University of New Mexico) and finally Drew Austin (Lubbock Christian University). 

Alex Pinedo attended El Paso Eastlake HS and had 76 innings pitched in 2016 with 82 strikeouts and a 4.60 ERA and a 7-3 win/loss record.

Gavin Johnson is a transfer from Rice University and will move on to Sam Houston State University and play for the Bearkats in 2018.

Larry Leitha calls Kerrville, TX home and attended Center Point HS.  In 2016 Leitha hit .334 with 41 RBI and 11 HR's while posting an impressive 2-1 record on the mound to boot. 

Finally, Drew Austin came to NMJC via Jacksonville, FL and Mandarin HS.  The 2017 season will be his first with NMJC.
