Thunderbirds season ends with loss to Grayson in Region V Tournament

Lubbock, TEXAS
It was a tight game until Grayson scored six late runs for the 10-4 victory over NMJC Thunderbirds on Sunday.
Daniel Herrera was hot from the plate for the Thunderbirds . Herrera went 2-4, drove in one and scored one run on a solo blast in the sixth.
Alex Pinedo ended up on the wrong side of the pitching decision, charged with the loss. He allowed eight runs in 6 1/3 innings, walked six and struck out five.
Grayson jumped out to an early 2-0 lead in the top of the first. A single by Lozano plated Coldiron started the inning off. Grayson then tacked on more runs when Barnett scored on a fielder's choice.
The Thunderbirds scored three runs of its own in the first on an RBI single by Travon Benton, an RBI single by Zac Sanders, and a groundout by Matt Martin.
Grayson posted one run in each of the fourth, eighth and ninth. In the fourth, Grayson scored on a sacrifice fly by Coldiron, scoring Manning.
The game was never in doubt after the seventh, as Grayson scored four runs on a groundout by Manning and a two-run single by Melero.
