GAME 3
The NMJC Thunderbirds jumped out to an early lead on Luna Community College and captured an 11-1 victory on Saturday at NMJC.
The game was decided quickly as NMJC Thunderbirds exerted its will early with seven runs in the first three innings.
A three-run home run by Jeff Deimling, a three-run home run by Daniel Herrera, and a sacrifice fly by Angel De Jesus in the first inning helped NMJC Thunderbirds put some runs on the board early.
Deimling racked up four RBIs on two hits for NMJC Thunderbirds.
Alex Pinedo got the win for NMJC Thunderbirds thanks to four strikeouts. Pinedo allowed one earned run, four hits and two walks in a complete game five inning affair.
GAME 4
NMJC Thunderbirds jumped out to an early lead on Luna Community College and captured a 12-4 victory on Saturday at NMJC.
Seven runs in the first three innings allowed NMJC Thunderbirds to put the game away early.
A groundout by Travon Benton in the first inning and an RBI single by Troy Daring Jr. during the second inning helped NMJC Thunderbirds put some runs on the board early.
Daring Jr. racked up two RBIs on three hits for NMJC Thunderbirds.
Sean Maher recorded the win for NMJC Thunderbirds . He allowed one run over 2 1/3 innings. Maher struck out two, walked two and gave up two hits.
The Thunderbirds easily handled Luna Community College pitching as six hitters combined for 10 hits, 11 RBIs and nine runs scored.
After a quick strike from Luna Community College, the Thunderbirds responded with five runs in the third. NMJC scored on an RBI double by Larry Leitha, a two-run single by Benton, and a two-run home run by Trent Herman.
NMJC Thunderbirds survived Luna Community College's surge and put up one run of its own in the fourth. NMJC Thunderbirds scored on an RBI double by Benton.
It didn't take long for NMJC Thunderbirds to answer as it scored four runs of its own in the fifth. NMJC Thunderbirds scored on a two-run single by Daring Jr., an RBI double by Angel De Jesus, and an RBI single by Jimmy Cubillos.
With the sweep of the Rough Riders, NMJC secured the No. 2 seed in next weeks Region V tournament in Lubbock beginning on Friday, May 13th.
